Trafford Council has embarked on an ambitious new plan to bring a University to Stretford, partnering with Lancaster University and the Class of 92.
University Academy 92 (UA92) was first conceived by the group of former Manchester United players, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville. UA92 will have a strong focus on personal development to ensure students are given the skills needed to make them employable once they graduate, with a strong focus on personal development. UA92
will be based at the former Kellogg’s site, opposite Trafford Town Hall.
Students will have paid work placements with businesses or other organisations as an integral part of their studies. Neighbouring Lancashire County Cricket Club and Manchester United have already pledge support for the plan and Microsoft are also a business partner in the venture.
Cllr. Mike Cornes said “This will be a fantastic resource for young people growing up in Trafford. UA92 will be another option available when they are deciding their future. The education offer in Trafford is one of of our strongest assets and we want to expand it to include university studies.”
